Of all the Australians and handful of Kiwis to have competed in the Tour de France only one, Eric MacKenzie, is now designing his own bikes. This gives EMC a point of difference we were keen to exploit in a communications plan that had Eric interacting with customers at bike stores, on rides and on Facebook. We lined him up to tweet for newspapers during the next TdF, re-visited trade communications and dreamed up cross-promotions with the likes Special K. This was on top of a comprehensive new brochure, new magazine ads and designs for a new look website which set the stage for a major revamp of the brand.
